Luxury Hill Station Residence nestled in the Himalayas, Himachal Pradesh
The Oakridge is a private hillside residence set against the dramatic backdrop of the Chamba valley in Himachal Pradesh. Designed to respond to its mountain terrain, the residence follows the natural slope of the site — presenting a two-storey colonial-inflected form with a steeply pitched roof, wide timber balconies, and generous bay windows that frame uninterrupted views of the surrounding peaks and valley below.
The architecture draws from the colonial hill-station vocabulary — warm timber joinery, pitched stone-tiled rooflines, shaded verandahs, and a white rendered façade — while integrating contemporary spatial planning for comfort and livability. The landscaped boundary, terraced garden beds, and sunflower borders soften the built edge and connect the residence organically to its hillside setting.
Interiors are conceived around warmth and crafted detailing — hand-painted decorative ceilings, custom wooden bay windows that flood the living spaces with valley light, and curated material selections that echo the vernacular palette of the region. Every room is oriented to maximise the view and bring the mountain landscape into the lived experience of the home.
