A Home Designed With Artistic Conviction

This apartment at Saya Gold Avenue, Indrapuram was designed as a complete interior transformation across multiple floors — living and dining areas, a dedicated bar lounge, an open modular kitchen, a daughter's bedroom, and outdoor terraces. The brief was clear: bold, personal, and visually arresting without sacrificing comfort.

The design is unified by a signature checkerboard marble floor that runs through every interior zone, giving the home a strong visual identity from the moment you enter. Against this graphic backdrop, the design layers organic furniture forms, dramatic sculptural art, warm walnut joinery, and carefully considered lighting to build a home that is as much a curated environment as it is a place to live.

A Checkerboard Canvas for Sculptural Living

The living and dining zone is the heart of the home — a grand open-plan space anchored by a striking checkerboard marble floor in high-contrast black and white. This graphic base sets up every element above it: a large-format sculptural elephant wall relief that dominates the living room back wall, curved cream sectional sofas arranged around an organic wooden coffee table, and a wavy ribbon pendant light that arcs across the ceiling overhead.

The dining area sits in dialogue with the living room — framed by an arched opening and a dramatic floral-patterned wallpaper backdrop. A cluster of globe pendants descends over the dining table, and the checkerboard floor continues seamlessly through, tying the two zones together. The living room's second angle reveals a helical staircase rising behind the TV unit — itself framed in warm stone with a recessed display niche — while abstract sculptural floor pieces punctuate the transitions.

A Bar That Makes a Statement

The dedicated bar lounge is one of the most distinctive spaces in the project. A fluted walnut bar counter with brass-trimmed edges anchors the room, fronted by three white boucle bar stools on gold bases. Behind it, warm-lit open shelving in dark walnut displays an assembled collection of bottles and barware.

Above the shelving, a large monochromatic portrait — a commanding god-like figure rendered in dramatic contrast — dominates the wall and gives the bar its personality. A wavy plaster ceiling detail adds soft architectural movement overhead, while a slender arc floor lamp in matte black completes the composition. The checkerboard floor continues here, reinforcing the identity of the home.

An Open Kitchen That Doubles as Architecture

The modular kitchen is designed as an open, social space rather than a purely functional room. A large arched display unit with fluted glass panels and warm interior lighting serves as the kitchen's focal piece — a piece of joinery that reads as furniture rather than cabinetry. A freestanding island with a marble top and curved ends provides prep space and informal seating, continuing the organic language of the rest of the home.

The cabinetry throughout is in a warm taupe-grey, consistent with the home's tonal palette, with integrated handles and recessed LED detailing. A pendant fan overhead keeps the open kitchen ventilated, and arched openings frame the transitions to adjacent spaces.

A Bedroom Designed Around a Circular Bed

The daughter's bedroom takes a softer, more intimate direction — a dusty rose and warm white palette centred around a circular platform bed with a fully upholstered rounded frame. The headboard wall is a full-height fluted panel in the same warm rose tone, flanked by lit arched alcove niches that display small objects and botanicals.

A Basquiat-inspired portrait in warm tones hangs on the adjacent wall, and a high-backed wing chair in mauve velvet provides a reading corner. The combination of the round bed, circular light fitting overhead, and arched niches creates a room that is cohesive and personal without being fussy.

Terraces Designed for Evening Living

The project extends to two distinct outdoor spaces, each with its own character. The rooftop porch is designed for evening gatherings — a geometric brass pergola structure strung with Edison bulb lights creates a canopy overhead, beneath which a circular seating area is arranged around a low coffee table. A circular raised planter with a small tree sits at the centre of the deck, softening the space with green.

The terrace feature wall takes a more contemplative approach — a brick-clad surround frames a circular black stone panel bearing a seated Buddha figure and the word "NIRVANA" in warm backlit lettering. A water feature cascades below it between flanking guardian sculptures, with arched openings on either side. It is a deliberate moment of stillness within an otherwise bold and stimulating home.
